Indonesia is a country with cultural diversity. Indonesia has various ethnic groups, languages, traditional houses, traditional foods and arts. Each region has different customs and cultures. I have a memorable experience of cultural diversity in the Indonesian. I began my experience of entering the Satya Wacana Christian University at the time of the event PPMB (Introduction of New Student Programs). Satya Wacana Christian University called mini Indonesian because students come and study in SWCU originating from various regions in Indonesia. Well at the time PPMB that all students are divided into groups randomly. Each group consisted of 10 people. After knowing the group gathering place that we've determined PPMB committee. Well the place where I first met with my group. We met each other and introduce themselves. My group consisted of 10 people consisting of 5 girls and 5 boys, from various faculties, and a variety of areas. Eight people including myself are from Java, two people from my group are from outside Java. That is Anggie from Flores she took the health sciences, and Glenn he from Ambon him take knowledge of IT professionals. We have started a group of familiar and compact PPMB held following the event. During our first week together, a lot of memorable experiences. One funny incident that I experience is that as a our group have assembled in one place and on time. But there is one person who Dani is not yet gathered, was contacted but no response, we waited a long time. Everyone was in saturated and emotion. At the time I was sitting next to Anggie, I also complain and express my saturation on Anggie in the Javanesse language. Since I am accustomed to using Java as a language of communication. But after I talked long with Anggie, she said " Erna I don’t understand what you're talking about, I don’t understand the javanese language". Jump spontaneous course I just realized it. I forget if Anggie didn’t understand the language Java. That funny experience made us laugh one group.
ehmm,,, nice,too.... new experience make us learn 'bout anything that we met in our environment...
whatever what u done, especially if u felt enjoy with new culture, and u understand what their mean and give the responds so you can make good communication clearly..
hahaa...
wherever we are, especially meet someone who had never met before.. just use Indonesian as the communication.. but using Javanese and teach them about Javanese/ another language is Fun,, we can share our language, soomething like "how to say good morning in bahasa Papua/ bahasa Manado, etc..
